I don't get it. If pvp sucks so bad and it's no fun why are you still playing it? My guild, we gvg nightly, WHY?, because we like it and we like hanging out together. (No we don't run a gimmick) come on, i know there are alot of iQ people on this forum, Why are you guys still here? It's fun isn't it? So my main question is, if it's nerfed/broken/crap in your point why do you even care? Gimmicks come and go balanced has been around forever, In all honesty, the only reason people quit Guild Wars is 1)RL demanded it or 2)They just weren't good enough to begin with. Saying high rank guilds quit playing *Looks in iQ's direction* Is by far the biggest load of crap i have ever heard, sure some of them don't play now, main reason REAL LIFE. Alot of them have reformed under other names (Do your homework before saying they are gone) All in all i think what i am trying to say here is, If you don't like it don't play it, stop QQing about it and just go.

why are still people playing gvg? well it's not because it's good. it's simply because it's the best there is. once something better comes along, what remains of a much larger gvg playerbase will evaporate.

lastly, we are not frustrated because GW gvg isn't good. we are frustrated because it can be vastly better if only the devs are not so completely clueless/hamstrung.

Exclamation .....

hmm...where to start...
- k let me address the issue at hand... pvp for some is something to do after work/school and for others i guess its a way of life? lol. PvP is more entertaining and or challenging for players than pve; thus the reason for having it around regardless of how many nerfs/upgrades/demoralizations that are put in place. Believe it or not people do get tired of watching television and the "real world" so.... they play guild wars to give them some type of reliever. But yah that's pretty much why Pvp is there and why people bother; but hey i could be wrong...that's just a logical reason for why I think people CONTINUE to play pvp.

- Next on the list.. NO PVP IS NOT DIEING....maybe in your world yes... but planet earth, no. Fame hoarding egotistic addicts are leaving pvp yes...only to attract more NEW players into pvp so that anet can lessen the amount of work it has to do...and ..... ARE YOU READY ..........TO MAKE MORE MONEY, FREAKIN A! who'd of thought.....anyway have you people forgotten that we don't pay monthly fee's.....regardless of what you might think....THEY DONT HAVE ENOUGH MONEY...theres never enough, sry but theres not . And another thing....they probably don't really care too much of what we have to say....considering their alrdy paid but hey like i said its something to do so why not go on and on ranting about things that will never get resolved like weve been doing for what....2 years now

and uh....tht's it mhmm.

I have no idea what you're talking about. iQ is the most active guild on the ladder. They've played like, 1000 games this season or something absurd.

This game isn't nearly as static, players from the lower forms of pvp and people that do pve constantly test and try pvp bringing in new blood. When top guild's leave other guilds rise and take their place, their skill level may not be better then the older guild that dispanded, but face it, who hear now was better then the old Evil, WM, IQ? Those guilds leaving while tragic allowed other guilds to step out from under their shadow. There will always be players that will challenge the top, and the fact that they even made it to the top makes them better, then those who stay in the bottom(no matter how much they say those new top guilds are garbage). Top players leave, for reasons that don't even have anything to do with the game. Judging the health of a game by their coming and going's is not even smart.
The good guilds aren't gone they are still here and fighting like always. My main point is IF you don't like the way Anet has pvp setup then WHY are you here? There are so many freakin MMO's out there you can PvP in stop QQing over the way Anet is doing things, seriously two years is way way to long to be complaining over the same points every couple of months.

Hmm, its like this I think

Guild Wars has the potential to be the ultimate in MMORPG PVP. The GvG format is just superb, its tactically challenging, deep, pretty intense. At one time, pre-factions pretty much, it was pretty close to being perfect. The game balance was largely intact, the best players were active and at the top of the ladder.

This kind of game though requires really strong game balance, otherwsie it falls apart and begins to lose its appeal. The more out of kilter skill balancing becomes, the less strategically challenging the game becomes, the less depth there is. PVP players strive for perfect balance because they want to play a game which is deep and strategic

What has happened is that there has been over time a steady degredation in skill balance. Sometimes it has been horrible, other times less so.

It is still probably just about the best MMORPG PVP game out there at the moment (thanks to the GvG format still retaining at least a little of its depth), but really it wouldnt take all that much to turn it back into the untouchable God of the genre. A little more effort at balancing (probably giving the job to someone who has a clue about PVP would be a good start) and suddenly the game is back to how it was when everyone fell in love with it.

If people dont complain then no-one will know there is a problem. Not complaining is therefore not an option

I understand, yes if you don't voice the opinion then it won't help any, i'll not dispute that one bit. The thing i am seeing is the complaining of the same thing over and over. Really if they haven't fixed it by now do you really think they will? I know for a fact Izzy does atleast play in gvg's "sometimes" i have the purple "gg" to prove it after a match vs him.... but like you say playing it right after a skill update doesn't really fix anything.

My problem is this, Instead of "Hey seriously Anet this, this, this need some serious attention" the forums are full of "OMG Anet I hate you because you didn't fix this, and this is crap and blah blah blah". There is more then one way to get a point accross. One will get the attention of the dev's and one will make devs say "god i am sick of the trash /leaveforum" guess which is which.

There's plenty of both types of posts around here. What pushes people to the "OMG Anet I hate you" template is the impression that Anet is ignoring us and the issues we're pointing out. We don't have a PvP-knowledgable Customer Service Rep, and it shows. I have to respect that frustration, and the posts that bug me more are the ones that call GvGers noobs and Anet gods for gifting us with meager updates like 10->15s recharge for Expose Defenses.

I hope A.Net stops looking at HvH like it's PvP, because it's not.

Actually, this is why PvP is dying.

As to the notion of there being a mass exodus of players in GW, I seem to notice my exceedingly empty friends list... i been playing since GW was just a beta(was here for 2 outta the 3 betas i witnessed the 1st one and immediatly got on for the other 2, gogo gadget fiery gwen death ^^)... Games changed a lot since then, and seems the game itself isnt enough to keep players here anymore, PvE is something that id never get into if i were a new player (i.e. mindless title grinding sucks^^). The PvP (that was once fun/exciting) is stale and sucks. Ill use the example that it was once like chess, you could have any combination of peices and still win, now its *quote* buildwars. My guild is losing interest too talking about us all finding a new game to play(wont be GW2 or GWEN they been pumping soooo hard when the game they already got is so obviously fubared (by their own hands) and then they say in that magazine article its too hard/encumbersome to fix we quit *but we'll sell you an expansion to our messed up game in a few months and then newer better game in 2 yrs ;p* ). Oh well nothing to encourage long time players anyways except their friends (and the almost totally useless minipets ::whoopie-cushion: and when the friends are gone so will the players. The only reason i personally play anymore, is to hang out with my guildies. Im just an average joe-gamer.

The only decent PvP imo is in TA. I observe the ladder matches and I always see the same thing and the same skills. It's so absent-minded. I dont mind HA but it hasn't been the same since HoH. I just like the feeling of taking it 10 rounds at a time. I think that ANet did an overall bad job with a good idea but it's still a good idea. TBH, I don't know of any other MMORPG that has given such easy access to PvP, like Guild Wars does, since UOT2A. I mean, most people in this thread that "went off to other games" keep naming FPS games like BF2142 or CS/CSS. I play CSS personally. The only thing that ever held this game together was the guilds. It was the same with UO and every other game. If you take away the guilds you take away the game; at least when it comes to PvP. So, if you really want to enjoy Guild Wars, stop relying on Anet to do the right thing because they just want the money. It's not like that surprises anyone. They honestly dont give a crap, and why expect them to?

I also think that this game is not entirely trashed. If there were so many noobs, like a lot of you claim, then why are we having this convorsation? Why do I not see any nazi's trolling into this thread saying, "STFU GTFO L2P GG LOLZ"? Exactly a year ago you would have to have some balls to even start a convorsation like this, or a few of the other threads riddled on the forums. Cut the excuses.

...That's all I have to say.

People should stop complaining about the builds. Retire the word Gimmick. If the build doesn't have a gimmick it doesn't work. Plan and simple.

PvP is about relations. If you have good friends and like to play together in a team game GW is for you. If you are anti social, rage, or think everyone else is noobs GW is not for you.
